The Artist:
I am an Omaha native and graduated from the University of NE-Omaha. I have spent time at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and have exhibited my work both locally and nationally, including paintings at the Bemis Center, Petshop Gallery, Split Gallery, Sioux City Art Center, Influx Gallery, and others.
my creative process is fueled by a deep fascination with the human experience and our connection to nature. in my approach i view Humans as being fundamentally a part of nature, sharing evolutionary ancestry, biological needs, and ecological interconnectedness with all life on Earth. While often viewed as separate due to our capacity to manipulate environments, human activities are technically part of the natural world’s processes, though they are frequently categorized differently.
i employ acrylic paints and sheets of metal leaf and manipulate these mixed media elements into both representational and abstract pieces. my depictions of nature often contain a textural element that dictates the harsh conditions that it(we) exist.
Thanks for taking the time to navigate through my work!
